CHILD AND YOUTH PROTECTION POLICY

ON THE CARE 2024 CONFERENCE

SKRB2024 (eng. CARE2024) conference is a joint event attended by children, young people and adults. It is therefore important that the entire environment in which the conference takes place is safe and respectful for all participants, especially children and young people.

In this context, we would like to remind you of some important rules of conduct and communication:

  • Treat all participants, regardless of age (and especially children and young people) with respect and without discrimination.
  • Try to maintain high standards of personal and professional behavior when communicating with other participants.
  • Protect your own health, safety and well-being as well as the health, safety and well-being of other participants.
  • Be aware of potential situations where there is an increased risk of peer violence and discrimination.
  • Be aware of how you communicate, how you express yourself and what language(s) you use and how other participants (especially children and young people) might experience this.
  • Create the conditions through your behavior and communication so that all participants (especially children and young people) feel safe and accepted and can actively participate.
  • Encourage children and young people to express their opinions. Encourage them and help them to say what they want, when they want it and how they want it.
  • Be open to the opinions and experiences of the other participants.
  • Pay particular attention to the confidentiality of information about the children and young people attending this conference. For the entire duration of the conference, make sure that you do not pass on any private and confidential information about children, young people and their families.
  • During the conference, children and young people are not allowed access to alcohol and other addictive substances. We particularly urge adult participants not to consume alcohol or other addictive substances in the presence of children and young people.

We also warn against unacceptable behavior:

  • Do not engage in illicit behavior with children and young people (e.g. alcohol consumption, inappropriate touching and social contact, physical punishment).
  • Do not use inappropriate jokes and swearing when communicating with children and young people.
  • In no situation should you discriminate, humiliate, belittle or degrade children and young people, their opinions and experiences.
  • If you notice any unacceptable and undesirable behavior towards children and young people during the conference, be sure to report this to the conference organizers.
  • Do not take photos or videos of other conference participants, especially children and young people, without their permission.
  • Do not search children and young people for their contacts (cell phone number, contact in social networks).
  • Do not enter rooms where children and young people are staying (unless you are an educator or an expert from the institution where the child comes from). If you believe it is necessary to enter the room where the children and young people are staying due to the security situation, you must do so in the company of educators/professionals who are familiar with the child/young person.
  • Do not be alone with a child or young person you do not know in circumstances that might be called in question.
